What is a bead pattern generator?
A bead pattern generator reduces an image to a grid of repeatable colors. Each filled square represents one bead. The result helps you judge the finished size, count materials, and follow the image row by row without plotting every square by hand.
This tool uses independent screen palettes rather than a commercial bead catalog. Choose a built-in set or import your own CSV, edit any cell, then match the final names and HEX values to shades you are permitted to use.

What is an image-to-bead pattern generator?
It turns the colors in a photo, drawing, logo, or pixel-art image into a square grid. Each filled cell represents one bead, so you can estimate the project size, follow the layout, and count the colors before you begin.
Do you upload or store my image?
No. Pattern creation happens locally in your browser. Your image stays on this device and is not sent to our server, stored, or used to train a model.
Which image formats work?
You can use PNG, JPG, and WebP images up to 15 MB. Images with one clear subject, strong contrast, and a simple background usually produce the easiest patterns to follow.
What grid size should I choose?
Start at 24–32 beads wide for bold, beginner-friendly patterns. Use 40–56 beads when small facial features, lettering, or fine outlines need more room.
Are the color codes tied to Perler, Hama, or another bead brand?
No. The built-in palettes are independent screen-color guides, not commercial brand catalogs. You can also import a CSV palette you have permission to use, then match the resulting codes and HEX values to beads you own.
Can I fix individual cells after generating a pattern?
Yes. Choose a paint color or the eraser, then edit individual cells with a mouse, touch, or keyboard. Undo, redo, zoom, live color counts, printing, and downloads all use your latest edits.
Can I save a pattern and continue later?
Yes. The latest project is automatically saved in this browser on this device. You can also download a portable .beadpattern.json project file and open it later. Project files contain the grid, palette, edits, and settings, but never the original image.
What does the downloaded pattern include?
You can download a coded PNG sheet or a build-ready PDF print pack. PDF options include A4 or US Letter, a one-page overview or tiled 5 mm cells, absolute row and column coordinates, 5-cell guide lines, page numbers, and a complete color quantity guide.
